Credible sources claim that Bahria Town founder Malik Riaz gave JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Rs5 billion in Dubai in exchange for supporting Pakistan’s 26th Constitutional Amendment.

According to the sources, Fazlur Rehman initially opposed the amendment but later agreed to support it following the alleged financial arrangement.

The sources further claim that Fazlur Rehman used the money to purchase a residence in Islamabad and land on the outskirts of Lahore for a large religious seminary, where his son is also expected to be accommodated.

In addition to the cash payment, Malik Riaz allegedly provided Fazlur Rehman with several properties in Dera Ismail Khan to secure his support for the constitutional amendment.

Further details regarding the alleged properties are expected to emerge.

Earlier, allegations have been made regarding the career progression of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s brother, Ziaur Rehman, claiming that he secured senior administrative positions through political influence.

According to the claims, Ziaur Rehman was a Grade-17 employee and engineer at PTCL before allegedly being appointed as an Assistant Commissioner and later promoted to Deputy Commissioner without passing either the provincial or federal competitive civil service examinations.

The allegations further state that he was later posted as Deputy Commissioner of Khushab after being transferred from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab. They also claim that despite being an officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Management Service (PMS), he was appointed Deputy Commissioner of Karachi Central by the Sindh government on July 23, 2020.
