Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is expected to inaugurate the 167-bed Margalla Hospital in Islamabad this week. The hospital had remained closed for several years.
The facility will offer free medical tests, treatment and surgeries. It will serve people living in Islamabad and nearby areas.
The hospital will work with the Indus Hospital and Health Network. The organisation provides healthcare services through charitable support.

How will the hospital benefit residents?

Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal chaired a meeting to review preparations for the hospital’s opening. Senior officials from the health ministry also attended the meeting.
Kamal said the hospital would help reduce the pressure on major hospitals in Islamabad. He added that it would make healthcare services easier to access for local residents.
He also said the partnership would help improve public healthcare services and make better use of available resources.
The hospital’s reopening is expected to provide more people with access to free medical care in the capital and surrounding areas.
