Marka-e-Haq celebrations: Concert at Rawalpindi stadium tonight

Islamabad Traffic Police announced latest traffic advisory for May 10 for the events of “Marka-e-Haq” celebrations.

The DC Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon took to X, temporary road closures and diversions will remain in place from 6pm until midnight on Sunday.

According to the advisory, the event includes a concert and fireworks, and heavy traffic is expected in nearby areas from around 6:30pm onwards. Fireworks were expected at approximately 9pm.

Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, especially during peak times. People travelling in Rawalpindi were advised to leave earlier than usual and keep an extra time margin of 45 minutes to 1 hour to avoid traffic.

Heavy traffic vehicles would be completely banned from entering Islamabad from 4am on May 10 until midnight and the Faizabad bus terminal will be closed. However, the 26 Number terminal remained open.

Additionally, several other routes will also remain restricted or closed, including parts of the Islamabad Expressway, Faisal Avenue, Srinagar Highway, and the Red Zone. Locals are advised to use alternate routes such as 9th Avenue, Margalla Road, GT Road, Club Road, and Murree Road.

Fighter jets would be flying overhead and releasing flares as part of the event activities. The advisory was issued by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon to help manage traffic and security arrangements across the capital.

The event will celebrate the anniversary of Pakistan’s historic success against India in last year’s conflict. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Airports Authority also warned that flight operations at Islamabad airport could be affected from Friday to Sunday. Officials said the measures are intended to ensure smooth traffic and security.

Faizabad bus stand closed: Commuters face travel disruptions

Transport operations at the Faizabad inter-provincial bus terminal in Islamabad have been suspended for two days due to security arrangements for ongoing Marka-e-Haq celebrations.

The closure has caused severe difficulties for passengers travelling between different cities, as inter-provincial transport services remain disrupted. The suspension of operations at the terminal began last night and is expected to continue for two days, leaving both commuters and transport operators facing inconvenience.

Passengers said the repeated closure of the Faizabad bus stand, even during Islamabad talks, has added to their frustration, especially in the absence of alternative transport arrangements.

Authorities have tightened security across the federal capital and implemented a traffic diversion plan due to the ongoing events. The restrictions have also affected daily travel between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, further adding to commuter difficulties.
