Maryam Nawaz directs officers to stay in field amid Eidul Azha

Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level video link meeting on Eidul Azha arrangements, security, and sanitation, which was attended in detail by Deputy Commissioners and police officers from all districts of the province.

The Chief Minister issued strict directives to ensure an exemplary security and cleanliness system during the Eid holidays, stating that no negligence at any level would be tolerated. She directed all administrative and police officials to remain in the field instead of staying in offices during Eid days to personally supervise arrangements.

She warned that strict action would be taken against relevant officers in case of any failure to implement the Eid code of conduct.

During the meeting, it was decided that a fine of Rs50,000 will be imposed for dumping animal remains and offal in streets, neighbourhoods, drains, or canals during Eid. It was also emphasised that cleanliness arrangements in railway colonies, cantonment areas, and private housing societies must be ensured under all circumstances.

The CM of Punjab also announced rewards for districts and officials showing outstanding performance in maintaining cleanliness across the province.

Furthermore, she directed that garbage dumping sites near airports be fully covered to ensure a clean environment for pilots and aviation safety. WASA authorities were instructed to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to citizens throughout all Eid days.

Regarding cattle markets, the CM made it clear that the buying and selling of sacrificial animals will only be allowed in officially approved cattle markets. Strict legal action will be taken immediately against those establishing unauthorised or illegal markets.

She further ordered the launch of digital monitoring and vigilance operations to oversee all cattle markets and commercial points. Tight security arrangements will also be put in place to prevent theft and robbery incidents in these markets, ensuring safety for buyers and sellers alike.
