The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar and BISE Bannu have postponed matriculation and Oriental Languages examination papers scheduled from October 7 to 10, 2026.
The decisions affect thousands of students preparing to appear in the SSC Annual-II examinations, with both boards saying the postponed papers will be conducted on revised dates.
BISE Peshawar matric exams postponed
BISE Peshawar has postponed all papers of the 2026 SSC Annual-II and Oriental Languages examinations scheduled for October 7, 8, 9 and 10.
According to the BISE Peshawar Controller of Examinations, new dates for the postponed papers will be announced separately.
The board clarified that examinations scheduled after October 10 will continue according to the previously issued date sheet.
Students have been advised to follow official BISE Peshawar announcements for information about the revised examination schedule.
BISE Bannu postpones matric exams
BISE Bannu has also postponed the SSC Annual-II and Oriental Languages Examination 2026 papers scheduled for October 7, 8, 9 and 10.
According to a notification issued by the BISE Bannu chairman on October 3, the decision was taken due to the prevailing security situation and the suspension of mobile phone and internet services within the board’s jurisdiction.
The board said communication disruptions could create difficulties for students, parents, teachers and examination staff, particularly in receiving and distributing roll numbers, duty letters and other examination-related information.
The suspension of communication services could also affect the delivery of examination stationery to examination centres, the notification said.
BISE Bannu said the circumstances could affect the smooth and transparent conduct of the examinations.
The postponed papers will be rescheduled, with a revised date sheet to be issued separately.
The decision covers Bannu, Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan. The board has directed educational institutions, examination staff, candidates and other stakeholders to take note of the decision.
All examinations scheduled after the affected dates will be held according to the previously notified date sheet.
Exams in DI Khan also postponed
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Dera Ismail Khan has also postponed matriculation examination papers scheduled from October 7 to 10.
According to Controller Examinations Qaiser Anwar, the examinations will now begin on October 12.
The postponement comes amid a three-day suspension of mobile phone services in Dera Ismail Khan. No official explanation was immediately available for the continued suspension of mobile services across the district.
Why were matric exams postponed in KP?
The examination postponements come amid security challenges in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Bannu has recently witnessed several terrorist incidents, while security forces have been conducting intelligence-based operations against militants in the region.
According to monthly data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), KP recorded a significant increase in the lethality of militant violence in September.
The report also said Pakistan recorded its highest monthly number of militant attacks in 12 years during September.
Students appearing in the postponed matric examinations should therefore check the respective education boards’ official announcements for revised dates before making further preparations.
