The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) has announced the results of the exam held to recruit 105 civil judges.
A total of 3,097 candidates had applied for the posts. However, only 1,024 candidates appeared in the written exam.
How many people passed the exam?
Only three candidates managed to pass the exam. This means that most of the candidates could not meet the required standard.
According to the KPPSC results, around 85 per cent of candidates failed the General English and English Essay papers. Around 68 per cent also failed the General Knowledge paper.
Which exams did most people fail?
The results showed a high failure rate in several subjects.
Around 41 per cent of candidates failed the Civil Law-I paper. The failure rate in Civil Law-II was around 46 per cent.
The commission has asked the three successful candidates to submit their required attested documents within 15 days.
Candidates who want their marks to be recounted can also submit a request to the commission.
KP Bar Council raises concerns
The KP Bar Council has raised concerns over the results. It has called for the result notification to be withdrawn.
The Bar Council said the results have raised questions about the process used to recruit civil judges. It also raised concerns about the exam standard.
The council pointed out that the province is already facing a shortage of judges. A large number of cases are also pending in courts.
The KP Bar Council has demanded that future civil judge recruitment should be conducted by the High Court instead of the Public Service Commission.
It has also asked the Chief Justice to take notice of the KPPSC result notification. The council said changes should be made to the recruitment process and the High Court should be given the authority to recruit civil judges.
