As the first anniversary of Pakistan’s outstanding victory against India in the Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos approaches, the citizens are wondering will there be a public holiday on May 10.
However, so far no public holiday has been announced for May 10 in connection with Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, as the day falls on Sunday, already observed as a weekly holiday across Pakistan.
According to official sources, there is no notification from the Government of Pakistan regarding any additional public holiday.
Authorities said there is no immediate need for a separate holiday since Sunday is already a day off for most institutions.
Officials added that the situation could be reviewed if required. For now, all public and private institutions will follow the routine Sunday closure schedule.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced last year that May 10 will be observed every year as Marka-e-Haq Day. The day will mark the success of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos.
In a statement, the prime minister said the occasion will be celebrated with enthusiasm and national unity. He said the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces have made the nation proud.
Looking ahead, the next public holidays in Pakistan will begin on May 27, 2026, on the occasion of Eid ul Azha and Youm-e-Takbeer. The holidays are expected to continue till May 29.
