France captain Kylian Mbappé became the highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history after he scored his 22nd World Cup goal.

France lost 6-4 to England in the third place playoff. But Mbappé scored two goals in that match and broke the previous World Cup goals record that was held by Lionel Messi.

Mbappé scored his first goal in the 48th minute of the match and equalled Messi’s record of 21 World Cup goals. He then scored again in the 66th minute to take his total to 22 goals.

Additionally, England defeated France 6-4 to finish third in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Bukayo Saka scored three goals for England.

Also, Jude Bellingham scored one goal to take his total to seven goals in the tournament.

Spain and Argentina are ready to face each other in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.

The winning team will also get the World Cup trophy and a record prize of $50 million. It is the biggest cash reward ever offered to the champions in World Cup history.

The final will be played at New York New Jersey Stadium. FIFA has announced a total prize fund of $871 million for the tournament. This makes it the largest financial package in the competition’s history.
