Pakistani film actor Moammar Rana’s wife, Mehnaz Humayun, has been granted khula (a wife-initiated dissolution of marriage in Islamic law) by a family court.

In her petition, Mehnaz said that Rana physically abused her, verbally insulted her, and used abusive language while under the influence of alcohol. She further claimed that he verbally abused her in front of their daughters, who also suffered mental distress due to his behaviour.

Mehnaz also maintained that her husband did not contribute towards household expenses. She said that family members had made several attempts to improve his behaviour, but he refused to change.

She told the court she could no longer live with Moammar Rana and requested a khula decree. The court subsequently issued a khula decree in Mehnaz’s favour.
