The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has released the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM)/ Foreign Minister (FM), Ishaq Dar, that he made on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq on May 5.
In his statement, FM Ishaq Dar said, “During the Pakistan-India conflict (May 2025), you will be amazed, my calls were around 60. It has already crossed the double mark during the ongoing crisis in the Gulf/Middle East, showing the seriousness of Pakistan in making all the sincere efforts to get the two parties to reach a truce and end this conflict, which is hitting almost everybody, directly or indirectly, in the region and beyond.”
He added, “The entire consultative process is aimed at getting this conflict over as soon as it can be done. So obviously, it takes two to tango. We are doing our best, and we are very hopeful that God willing, Pakistan will succeed with the efforts, with the wishes, with messages of support from all of your capitals.”
“Now it is for our neighbour to make the choice. Millions cannot live under the perpetual fear of war, death, and destruction. Shared resources cannot be weaponised”, said the foreign minister of Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar said that hatred cannot be instrumentalised for electoral gains. And peace cannot be achieved through continued occupation, unilateral measures, illegal actions, and misplaced ambitions of regional domination.
He stated, “We remain convinced that peace cannot be achieved through coercion or unilateralism, but only through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law and the UN Charter.”
Talking about the endless efforts of the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and COAS/ CDF, Field Marshal, Syed Asim Munir, DPM Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan managed, and was able, as a result of its untiring efforts, led by PM Shehbaz, and supplemented by Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Foreign Office of Pakistan, we managed to get the US and Iran to hold direct talks after 47 years in this very beautiful city of Islamabad.
“It was a marathon session of 21 hours, which started in the afternoon of the 10th and ended early hours of the 11th of April”, he said.
Concluding his statement, Ishaq Dar said, “Pakistan stands ready to work with all its neighbours to advance peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the region.”
