The federal government has decided to release the fifth and sixth instalments of the Fuel Subsidy Program during June 2026.
The decision was made during a review meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where officials assessed the progress of the subsidy scheme and its implementation across the country.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting reviewed the financial assistance being provided under the program. Officials were informed that four instalments had already been successfully disbursed on a weekly basis over the past two months.
Expressing satisfaction over the progress made so far, Ishaq Dar directed authorities to ensure the effective continuation of the scheme and maintain transparency and accountability in its implementation.
The meeting also discussed coordination with provincial governments and measures to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the maximum benefits reach eligible beneficiaries.
Special Assistant Tariq Bajwa, the Secretary of Petroleum, the chief secretaries of all provinces, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Motorcycle fuel subsidy program extended until May 31
The government of Sindh earlier extended the Peoples Motorcycle Fuel Subsidy Program until May 31 and directed the release of Rs2 billion for the initiative.
The decision was taken in a provincial cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where several key approvals were granted related to development projects, urban facilities, and administrative reforms.
During the briefing, it was revealed that more than 548,000 people have so far benefited from the program, with Rs1.096 billion already distributed.
According to the Sindh government spokesperson, the sales tax for motorcycle ride-hailing services has been reduced from 5% to 2%, providing relief to online drivers.
The cabinet also sanctioned Rs6.5 billion towards road rehabilitation in Karachi, which would facilitate the state to initiate road repairs within minutes and to release funds instantly.
