LAHORE: The M-2 Motorway is presently closed to all traffic. The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) announced the closure this morning.
This is an action that is required because there has been a sudden rise in the density of the fog. The part impacted by the closure is Thokar Niaz Baig.
The adversely affected route stretches to Kot Momin Interchange. This marks kilometre 162.
There is heavy fog that has diminished visibility to almost zero. Thus, the officials applied the closure due to safety reasons. Driving under such conditions is very dangerous.
The official notification was given by the Motorway Police. They discouraged drivers from using the closed section at all costs.
Traffic is now being diverted to other routes. The police are recommending that drivers use the old national highway.
Moreover, individuals are advised to drive on all the local roads with additional care. The visibility of the area is impaired by the fog.
The motorway will be reopened as soon as the weather improves. The Motorway Police will declare that the traffic flow is resumed.
They requested the citizens to monitor any updates on the traffic. In turn, before embarking on any trip, travellers need to check the conditions.
