Motorway Police have issued instructions for people travelling on the M-2 Motorway as repair work is underway on a section of the major route.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, road repair work is currently being carried out on the M-2 South near Khanqah Dogran on the northbound side.
The Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has started patchwork on the affected section of the motorway. As a result, some lanes have been temporarily closed.
Two motorway lanes temporarily closed
According to the spokesperson, the second and third lanes have been closed for a stretch of around 200 to 250 metres because of the ongoing work.
Road construction, phased filling and other repair work are being carried out on the affected section.
The temporary lane closures could affect the normal flow of traffic in the area. Drivers have been asked to reduce their speed and follow the temporary traffic guidelines.
The authorities have taken safety measures around the construction area to guide motorists and reduce the risk of accidents.
Diversion boards have been installed at the affected location. These will help identify the work zone and direct vehicles safely through the available section of the motorway.
Travellers have also been asked to drive carefully and pay close attention to diversion signs and other instructions around the affected section.
Drivers should avoid sudden lane changes while passing through the temporarily restricted area.
The M-2 is one of Pakistan’s major motorway routes and connects Lahore with the Islamabad-Rawalpindi region.
