The Punjab government has launched a mobile application that allows families of prisoners to book prison visits online.
The government introduced the app to modernise public services and improve the prison system.
According to government officials, the app enables visitors to choose a date and time for meeting inmates without having to visit the prison in advance.
The authorities say the new system is designed to reduce long queues, minimise overcrowding at prisons and make the visitation process more organised.
Officials said the digital booking service would also help prison administrations manage visitor schedules more efficiently.
Under the new system, families can select an available time slot through the mobile app and arrive at the prison at their scheduled time for the visit.
The Punjab government says the initiative is intended to save time for visitors while improving administrative arrangements inside prisons.
The launch is part of the provincial government’s wider plan to expand digital public services.
The officials said that modern technology is being introduced across government departments to provide faster, more transparent and more efficient services to citizens.

NDMA forecasts rain across Pakistan from July 6 to 10
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has predicted rain across Pakistan from July 6 to July 10, 2026.
As per the latest weather advisory issued, the NDMA has warned about rain and wind accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across northern and upper parts of the country.
The weather system will start entering the northern region of Pakistan on July 6, with rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Potohar and north eastern Punjab.
The rainfall will increase from July 7 to 10, as heavy rainfall is expected over the upper streams of the Indus, Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers, also including Islamabad, Potohar, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), KP, northern Punjab and northern areas of Balochistan.
NDMA has confirmed that most heavy rainfall will occur on July 7, 2026.
There is a high chance of an increase in the water level in Tarbela and Mangla, and the Indus, Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers will also see a rise in their water levels due to the expected heavy rainfall.
The disaster management authority has also predicted that the heavy rain could cause a flood situation in the mountain areas, while there are high chances of urban flooding and waterlogging in the low-lying areas.
Landsliding is expected to occur in several areas of KP, GB and AJK.
The NDMA has asked the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), district authorities and emergency services to remain on high alert and to monitor the weather conditions closely.
People are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, stay away from rivers, streams and hill torrents, avoid driving through flooded roads and follow official safety advice.
The NDMA has also urged the public to stay updated through its official communication channels and take necessary precautions during the forecast period.
