PSL 11 update: Multan Sultans return to PSL

The announcement was made during a joint press conference at Gaddafi Stadium. Salman Naseer, Hamza Majeed and Gohar Shah attended the event and shared details about the decision.

PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer said that Gohar Shah had requested the change of name from Sialkot Stallionz to Multan Sultans.

The franchise was officially renamed after completing the required legal and administrative process.

He said the decision was taken to strengthen the league’s brand value and provide better entertainment for cricket fans.

The new owners expressed their commitment to building a strong team. They said special focus will be given to player selection and management structure.

According to reports, the team management plans to adopt a balanced strategy between local and international players.

The owners said that all resources will be used to form a competitive squad for the upcoming season.

The Pakistan Super League is considered the country’s most popular T20 tournament. Teams from different cities take part in the league.

PCB suspend Multan Sultans’ PSL contract

Previously, the PCB suspended the PSL franchise, Multan Sultans, after a formal termination notice was issued over an alleged breach of contract.

According to reports from private media outlets citing sources, the decision was made after Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen publicly criticised PCB policies, which allegedly prompted disciplinary action from the board.

Sources said the franchise has received a suspension notice and a termination warning for allegedly violating contractual terms.

Ali Tareen on PSL auction

Previously, former Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen said he would not spend any amount to take back the franchise at the upcoming auction on February 9.

He asked fans to keep their expectations realistic. He said he will only buy the team if the price suits him.

“Hey guys, so tomorrow is Multan Sultans’ auction, and I want to make this video just so everyone understands where my mind’s at, what’s the mindset,” he said.

“We have submitted our papers, and we are one of the qualified bidders for the team,” Tareen further added in the video message.

“But I want everyone to have more realistic expectations and temper their expectations. Because it’s not a given that tomorrow I will go to Multan Sultan at any cost. It has been a privilege to own Multan Sultans for seven years. We’ve been part of it. It’s been one of the highlights of my life,” he stated.
