ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has forecast rain and snowfall in the upper parts of the country including Murree over the weekend.
According to officials, a western weather system will enter Balochistan on December 19 and move towards northern areas on December 20.
Under this system, rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal, and Layyah from the evening of December 20 to December 21.
Snowfall along with rain is likely in Murree and the Galliyat from the night of December 20 to December 21.
PUNJAB
In Punjab, cloudy weather with light drizzle is expected in Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Multan, Jhang, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Toba Tek Singh on December 20 and 21.
BALOCHISTAN
In Balochistan, rain and thunderstorms with snowfall over hilly areas are expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, Chagai, Kharan, and Kalat from the evening of December 19 to December 20.
KHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain with wind and moderate snowfall in upper areas is forecast for Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Waziristan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Kohat from the night of December 20 to December 22, with occasional breaks.
GILGIT/AJK
Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also likely to receive rain and snowfall.
Moderate to heavy snowfall is expected in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar, as well as in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from the night of December 20 to the morning of December 23.
SINDH
Partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected across most parts of the province on December 19 and 20.
