The Muttahida Madaris Council Pakistan has distanced itself from recent remarks made by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman regarding the Pakistan Army and martyrs.

In a statement, the council said no religious seminary or religious educational institution supports any narrative against the armed forces, reaffirming its solidarity with Pakistan’s security institutions and paying tribute to the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs.
The remarks made by the chief of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F), Fazal ur Rehman, on armed forces are under criticism, which has led some political leaders to demand an apology from him along with legal action against him.
Fazal ur Rehman addressed the security scenario of the two provinces KP and Balochistan at a recent rally at JUI-F in Kasur, Punjab.
He reportedly mentioned in the rally that the martyrdom of soldiers was frequently highlighted but they had salaries and were assigned to protect the country.
His remarks received strong criticism, as people felt that the remarks were disrespectful to the sacrifices of those in the armed forces who died in service of the country.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan strongly condemned the statement saying the veteran politician should make a public apology.
He also suggested the formation of a Senate committee to consider the issue and decide if Fazal ur Rehman should be formally summoned to explain his remarks.
In the meantime, the controversy has also made it to court.The
Sessions court has issued a notice to NCCIA for the registration of a cybercrime case against JUI-F chief due to his controversial remarks.
The issue continues to be probed by both the legal and political processes.
