The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has begun using new technology-equipped tablet devices to bring registration and identity services directly to citizens’ doorsteps.

The initiative aims to provide greater convenience to the public and accelerate registration activities in different areas according to local needs.

Locally manufactured advanced tablets

According to NADRA officials, the advanced tablets have been manufactured in Pakistan, and their use is gradually being expanded. The devices are equipped with Pak ID software, enabling relevant NADRA officials to visit different areas and provide registration services to citizens.

Facility to capture fingerprints, photographs and iris data

One of the key features of the new tablet devices is their ability to capture citizens’ fingerprints, photographs and iris data. This advanced biometric technology is expected to simplify the collection of identification information and make the registration process more convenient.

Rapid registration services in crowded areas

NADRA officials said an officer equipped with one of these tablets can conduct registration activities in different locations. The mobile facility can be deployed as needed, particularly in union councils experiencing heavy public traffic or where large numbers of people require identity services.

If an unusually large number of citizens gather for registration in a particular union council, NADRA can send an officer equipped with a tablet to the area. This is expected to improve public convenience and reduce waiting times.

Aim to make NADRA services more accessible

The primary objective of the system is to extend NADRA services beyond conventional registration centres and make them available in different areas according to demand. This will help reduce the need for citizens to travel to distant centres or wait for extended periods to obtain identity-related services.

Equipped with advanced biometric technology and Pak ID software, the tablets form part of NADRA’s mobile and citizen-focused service delivery system. Through this initiative, the authority aims to provide registration facilities more efficiently in line with the needs of the public.
