The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued important guidelines for overseas Pakistanis aged 18 and above who are applying for a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) for the first time.

According to NADRA, applicants must arrange the required documents and complete the necessary verification process before submitting their applications.

The required documents include the identity card or NICOP number of a parent or blood relative, a detailed foreign birth certificate or S1 form, and a citizenship or naturalisation certificate, where applicable. Applicants must also provide a Pakistani or foreign passport, residence permit, travel document, or an undertaking verified by a Pakistani embassy or mission.

NADRA said applicants can have their application forms verified through biometric verification by a parent or a sibling aged 18 or above.

If biometric verification is not possible, the application form must be attested by a gazetted officer or public representative in Pakistan. Overseas applicants can also seek attestation from any NICOP holder, according to the guidelines.

The authority further clarified that if no family record is available in NADRA’s database, applicants will need two NICOP or national identity card holders to act as witnesses, along with Affidavit B.

Applicants can submit their applications through the Pak Identity mobile application or by visiting the relevant NADRA Registration Centre.

The guidelines aim to help first-time applicants understand the documentation and verification requirements before applying for a NICOP.
