The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has mobilised Rs313 billion in the first 50 days of the new fiscal year, meeting its target for the period and getting FY2026-27 off to a strong start.

The funds were raised between July 1 and August 20, with officials linking the performance to better institutional efficiency, growing investor confidence and continued demand for government-backed savings products, according to APP.

With the initial target achieved ahead of schedule, CDNS has set a much larger goal of Rs1.53 trillion for the full fiscal year. The institution aims to use the mobilisation drive to boost domestic savings and provide people with more investment options through formal financial channels.

CDNS also plans to expand its Islamic finance offerings as it looks to attract investors seeking Shariah-compliant products. Officials said product diversification would remain a key part of the institution’s strategy.

For FY2025-26, CDNS had set a target of Rs60 billion for Islamic savings instruments. In the previous fiscal year, it had allocated Rs170 billion for Islamic investments under an overall mobilisation target of Rs1.65 trillion.

The institution has maintained a strong mobilisation record in recent years. It surpassed its Rs1.7 trillion target in FY2023-24 by raising Rs1.74 trillion, while it met its Rs1.6 trillion target in FY2022-23.

In FY2021-22, CDNS increased its initial mobilisation target from Rs1.3 trillion to Rs1.4 trillion as market conditions supported stronger resource mobilisation.

Officials said reforms, operational improvements and efforts to make National Savings products more accessible had helped improve the institution’s performance.

They said CDNS would continue to focus on product diversification, digital services and Shariah-compliant savings products as it works towards its Rs1.53 trillion target for FY2026-27.
