The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has once again summoned cricketer Mohammad Rizwan in connection with a cybercrime inquiry. The NCCIA Lahore has issued a second notice to Rizwan, directing him to appear at its Lahore office on October 2 at 3:00 p.m.

According to the notice, failure to appear will be construed as the accused having nothing to offer in his defence. It further states that legal action may be taken in the event of non-compliance. NCCIA has been conducting an inquiry involving cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. The agency had earlier sent a questionnaire to Rizwan, but he has yet to submit his responses.

As part of the investigation, the NCCIA currently has both Rizwan’s and Imam-ul-Haq’s mobile phones in its custody. Sources said the agency sought access to Rizwan’s phone to carry out a detailed forensic examination of its digital data. The NCCIA has also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate matters related to the two cricketers.

Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court had previously directed Rizwan to join and cooperate with the NCCIA inquiry. The court also instructed the agency to proceed strictly in accordance with the law and refrain from harassing or unnecessarily troubling the cricketer.

The court has not made any finding that Rizwan committed any wrongdoing in connection with the inquiry. According to a five-page questionnaire obtained, the NCCIA sought extensive personal, financial and travel information from Rizwan as part of an inquiry into alleged gambling.

The questionnaire sought details of his parentage, date and place of birth, his wife’s name and information about his children. The agency also requested details of the Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and other social media accounts he had used during the past 10 years.

The NCCIA also asked the cricketer to provide information about his sources of income over the past five years, including salary, rental income, business and agricultural income, as well as profits earned from bank deposits.
