Javed Akhtar Odho appointed as new IG Sindh

KARACHI: Javed Akhter Odho has been appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police (IG) in Sindh. The Sindh Government on Wednesday issued an official notification of his appointment.

The change in leadership took place after the retirement of IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.

According to the notification issued, Javed Akhter Odho, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, has been given an additional charge as IGP Sindh. He is also currently the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi Range, and was appointed to this post last year.

The outgoing IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi said that in his tenure, he focused on technology and improved the investigation system.

Memon was assigned the office of IGP Sindh in March 2024. Before that, he was an Executive Director at the State Life Insurance Corporation.

He also took charge as Director of the Intelligence Bureau in Karachi from 2006 to 2008. Later, he served as Joint Director IB Sindh between 2011 and 2016.

Ghulam Nabi Memon, a reckless officer, was awarded the Sitara-e-Shujahat and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz.
