The committee later sent the names of three candidates to the Sindh Chief Minister for the final decision.

Previously, the VC of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, Lyari, Professor Dr Syed Hussain Mehdi, resigned from his post.
He submitted his resignation to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The VC said he was facing ongoing pressure from a group of university employees.

Why did the vice chancellor resign?

According to the details, protests and demands from employees had put pressure on the university administration.
The employees were also demanding the resignation of the Registrar. Dr Syed Hussain Mehdi said such demands appeared to be driven by political pressure.
He said university decisions should be made according to the law. He warned that giving in to employee pressure could create a new practice in university administration.
The VC also said that running the university had become difficult due to the continued pressure and problems.
