A major development emerged on Thursday in the case involving Pakistani dissidents living in the United Kingdom, including a former adviser in the Imran Khan government, Shahzad Akbar and YouTuber Adil Raja, as no evidence was found against Pakistan or any Pakistani state agency related to this case.
Three individuals accused of the alleged attack on Pakistani figures Adil Raja and Shahzad Akbar were produced before the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
The accused include Mark Regan, described as a habitual offender and a Pakistani national, Asif Afsar, who is also alleged to have a criminal record.
According to the report, Asif Afsar is involved in the business of buying and selling vehicles. A third accused was also presented before the court, with all three reportedly having a history of criminal activity.
It further reported that during police questioning, Asif Afsar denied having any links with intelligence agencies or any Pakistani state institutions.
The prosecution informed the court that, at this stage, the motive behind the alleged attacks on Adil Raja and Shahzad Akbar remains unclear. The court was told that investigations are ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses. The hearing concluded with the court taking note of the prosecution’s submissions, while the legal process continues.
