The Ministry of Interior has, for the first time, standardised the character certificate system for citizens across the country to facilitate people travelling abroad and job applicants.
The data of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, have been integrated. For the first time, the character certificate system has been made uniform across the country.
Now citizens will only need to obtain the certificate from the National Police Bureau instead of separate provinces.
The central record of Pakistanis has been secured at the National Police Bureau. Now character certificates for citizens across the country will be issued from one place.
The complicated process of police verification has now been linked to a fast and centralised system.
Citizens will be able to obtain police character certificates online while staying at home. For the first time, police records from across the country have been included in a single database.
The initiative will provide major convenience for people travelling abroad and job applicants.
In another interesting development people who were involved in criminal activities will no longer be allowed to operate online ride services.
As a new security system has been introduced for online taxi platforms in Lahore.
A police character certificate has been made mandatory by the Punjab Police for individuals who are seeking to work as online taxi drivers.
According to Faisal Kamran, the DIG, an agreement has been signed between online taxi companies and the Punjab Police.
Under this no ride-hailing company will be allowed to register individuals with a criminal record on their applications.
According to the new companies, the ride hailing services will be required to obtain police character certificates from all applicants before they can become drivers for their organisations.
