Online property transfer service stops working in Karachi

Property owners and buyers in Karachi have been facing delays after the Sindh Revenue Department’s online property transfer service stopped working due to a technical fault.

The department’s property transfer system has remained offline for the past three days, disrupting thousands of real estate transactions across Karachi and other parts of Sindh.

According to officials, the server issue has prevented users from downloading challans, making it impossible to complete scheduled property registrations and transfer procedures.

The prolonged outage has caused inconvenience to thousands of citizens waiting to finalise property transactions.

Officials said the department’s technical team is working to fix the problem and restore the online service as soon as possible. However, despite ongoing efforts, the system had not been fully restored by the third day, leaving many applicants still waiting for their property transfer process to resume.

On the other hand, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announcing the eligibility criteria for PM’s Apna Ghar Programme, a subsidised housing finance scheme, said that all citizens who do not own a house in their name are eligible to apply.

Ghulam Muhammad Abbasi, Executive Director of the Islamic Finance Group at the SBP while addressing a workshop titled “Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme Ghar Ho To Apna” on Thursday said commercial banks and microfinance banks had been issued the necessary instructions regarding the scheme.

Abbasi said banks were accepting housing finance applications from people aged up to 65 under the prime minister’s housing scheme.

He said no profession had been excluded from the programme, adding that journalists, lawyers, judges, policymakers, military personnel and people from all other sectors could apply for financing to purchase a home.

Abbasi said overseas Pakistanis were also eligible to benefit from the scheme. He added that up to four people could jointly submit an application to meet the loan repayment requirements.

Older applicants may apply in partnership with their children or other family members, provided the co-applicants are employed or have a reliable source of income.
