The National Paigham-i-Aman Committee expresses solidarity with the Sikh community, reaffirms commitment to interfaith harmony

In a significant display of interfaith harmony, leaders representing various Islamic schools of thought and religious communities, under the Government of Pakistan’s National Paigham-i-Aman (National Peace Message) Committee, visited Farooqabad in Sheikhupura to express solidarity with the Sikh community.

During the visit, the delegation also inspected the historic Dharamshala, where a section of the boundary wall had recently collapsed due to its deteriorated condition. The committee agreed that the structure would be restored and reconstructed through cooperation while preserving its historical, cultural, and religious significance.

The committee reaffirmed that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights to all citizens, including both Muslims and non-Muslims. It emphasised that the ownership, legal status, and historical identity of all places of worship, including mosques, temples, gurdwaras, and dharamshalas, will remain protected, and no changes to their legal or historical status will be allowed.

Addressing reports circulating on social media and other platforms, the committee stated that claims and propaganda concerning the Farooqabad Dharamshala are baseless. It reiterated that the site will continue to retain its original historical and religious identity in accordance with the law and Pakistan’s commitment to protecting religious heritage.

The visit underscored the government’s commitment to promoting religious tolerance, safeguarding minority rights, and strengthening interfaith harmony across Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning here that the National Paigham-i-Aman Committee (NPAC) is an interfaith and inter-sectarian platform established by the Government of Pakistan to promote peace, counter extremism, combat terrorism, and discourage hate speech.

Operating under the National Committee on Narrative Building, the NPAC brings together religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and government representatives to foster religious moderation, interfaith harmony, and social cohesion.
