Fact check: is barbed wire along Pak Afghan border being removed

Multiple claims by the Afghan Taliban regime and Indian RAW linked outlets about the removal of barbed wire along the Pakistan Afghanistan border are false and not based on facts, according to the official X handle of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan for exposing false news on Wednesday.

Removal of barbed wire along Pak Afghan border

The Pak Afghan border stretches over 2,640 kilometres of difficult terrain and is guarded only by Pakistan.

The post adds, “it is guarded only by Pakistan while the Taliban regime works hand in glove with terrorists, smugglers and criminal mafia to infiltrate.”

The post adds that these people appear briefly to record such clips and then leave. This is presented as part of Taliban propaganda tactics.

“All the clips being uploaded by Taliban regime outlets are created content, dated and in line with Kharjis/Taliban propaganda tactics of appearing for few minutes to record content and then run away,” the post added.

The Pak Afghan border fence is reported to be fully intact, according to the fact check.

Any attempt to damage or breach it is met with an immediate and strong response on the ground, it adds.

The post further stated that more than 250 border posts have been destroyed and several others captured by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies during targeted operations under Operation Ghazab lil Haq.

According to the post, the Afghan Taliban regime is spreading false claims to manage its domestic audience after these losses.

The Afghan Taliban regime and Indian agencies are further accused of making false claims in the past.

These include stories about capturing a Pakistani tank, conducting successful drone strikes, and detaining a Pakistani pilot, it adds.

“Any claims by Afghan Taliban or their media cannot be trusted,” the post says.
