Pakistan Army successfully foils Khawarij attack on check post

A suicide attempt by Khwarijs on a Pakistan Army post in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan was successfully foiled.

According to security sources, the attacker was attempting to target the army post using a vehicle loaded with explosives. However, alert Pakistan Army personnel acted swiftly and destroyed the vehicle before it could reach its target.

The attacker was killed during the operation, preventing what could have been a major loss of life. Seven civilians in the nearby area were injured in the incident and were immediately shifted to DHQ Hospital Wana.

According to Medical Superintendent Dr Jan Muhammad, medical assistance is being provided to the injured. Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to identify any additional threats or suspects.

Security sources stated that the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies are fully mobilised to maintain law and order in the area.

It is worth mentioning here that last year, in December, at least four terrorists were gunned down as security forces thwarted an attack carried out by Khawarij in the Boya area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district.

As per details, the Khawarij were shot dead during the clearance operation, whereas the surrounding areas are now being checked for IED’s.

According to sources, one of the “suicide bombers” drove the explosives-laden vehicle into a wall of the Boya fort early Friday morning.

Sources said that at least four to five Khawarij attempted to enter the fort following the suicide blast, but a timely response from security forces thwarted the attempt, killing three terrorists on the spot.
