Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with the players of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team and encouraged the young cricketers over their good performance in England.
During the meeting, an important announcement also came for the young players. The PCB has decided to give central contracts for the first time to the players of the Pakistan Under-19 team.
According to Under-19 team head coach Shahid Anwar, after the team’s good performance in England, PCB Chairman invited the players to meet him. He met the young cricketers individually and appreciated their performance in England.
Mohsin Naqvi said that the purpose of giving central contracts to young players is to encourage them to work harder and deliver better performances.
He said that when the good performance of young players is recognised and they are rewarded for it, their confidence will also increase.
Pakistan Under-19 team captain Farhan Yousaf said during the meeting that the Under-19 development camps held in Multan over the past two years had greatly benefited the players.
According to him, these camps played an important role in preparing young cricketers and improving their performance, and their positive results also emerged.
Farhan Yousaf said that meeting the PCB chairman and the decision to give central contracts for the first time is encouraging for the young players.
Meanwhile, Former Pakistan Test team captain Wasim Akram has termed Babar Azam’s decision to take back the captaincy of the national Test team a wrong decision.
Speaking at a charity fundraising event with Waqar Younis in Manchester, Wasim Akram said, “I do not want to blame anyone and I could also be wrong, but in my opinion, Babar Azam should not have taken the captaincy at all. All of this was unnecessary.”
Wasim Akram said that at the toss in the third Test, Babar Azam was asked about the changes to seven players and the coach. Babar Azam said that he did not know. “If you do not know, then what have you come here for?”
