Pakistan-China Silk Road Mango Festival 2026 Highlights Deepening Ties in Guangzhou

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Guangzhou hosted the Pakistan-China Silk Road Mango Festival 2026 on Sunday, as part of celebrations of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The event, held at a local hotel, underscored the enduring “Iron Brotherhood” while promoting agricultural trade and people-to-people exchanges.

Diplomats, Chinese business leaders, provincial and municipal foreign affairs officials, chamber of commerce representatives, scholars, students, and members of the Pakistani community attended in significant numbers.

The festival was co-hosted by the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers and Exporters and the Guangzhou Jiangnan Market Imported Fruit Chamber of Commerce, whose collaboration helped make the occasion a notable success.

In his keynote address, Consul General Sardar Muhammad described the gathering as more than a simple tasting event. “Today we are not merely sampling mangoes; we are tasting the fruit of our Iron Brotherhood,” he said. He referred to Pakistani mangoes as the “King of Fruits,” noting that varieties such as Sindhri, Chaunsa, and Anwar Ratol — among the many types cultivated in Pakistan — are celebrated globally for their distinctive sweetness, aroma, and flavour. Each shipment of mangoes to China, he added, carries not only produce but also trust, cooperation, and the warmth of bilateral friendship.

The Consul General emphasised the festival’s role in strengthening the agricultural dimension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and expanding market access for Pakistani agricultural products in China.
Guests sampled a range of fresh mangoes alongside mango milkshakes, yoghurt shakes, custard, ice cream, cakes, and traditional Pakistani mango tea. Cultural performances featuring traditional Pakistani and Chinese music and Chinese traditional dances added colour to the evening, while business interactions enabled Pakistani exporters and Chinese importers to hold direct discussions on potential future trade agreements.

The participants also won dozens of prizes in the lucky draw and celebrated their win with the sweetness of the mangoes verities. Support from co-hosts, including Mr. Wu Shaowei and Mr. Guan Zhiqiang, as well as companies such as Huawei and ZTE, contributed to the event’s success.

Participants observed that the festival demonstrated how Pakistan-China relations extend well beyond official channels to encompass traders, farmers, students, and ordinary citizens. As one attendee noted, the growing sweetness of mangoes over time mirrors the further deepening friendship between the two nations.

The evening in Guangzhou reaffirmed that the Pakistan-China relationship, often described as an “Iron Brotherhood,” continues to flourish through cultural exchange, commercial cooperation, and shared warmth — with Pakistani mangoes serving as one of its most tangible and welcome ambassadors
