Pakistan won the bronze medal in the Asian Games hockey competition after defeating South Korea 5-3 in an exciting third-place playoff. The victory took Pakistan’s total medal tally at the Asian Games to 10. The hockey match was tied at 3-3 in the fourth quarter, but Pakistan produced a strong finish, scoring two more goals to secure a 5-3 victory over South Korea and claim the bronze medal.
Rana Waheed scored twice for Pakistan, while Sufyan Khan, Abdul Rehman and Hannan Shahid scored one goal each. Pakistan also won the bronze medal in the men’s volleyball competition after defeating China in the third-place playoff.
In the match held in Nagoya, Japan, Pakistan secured a straight-sets victory, winning 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18. Pakistan took an early lead in all three sets and maintained pressure on China throughout the match.
Earlier, Pakistan had lost to Iran in straight sets in the semi-final. Iran won the match 25-13, 25-15 and 25-11 at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium to advance to the final. Meanwhile, India won the gold medal in the Asian Games cricket final after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs, leaving Pakistan with the silver medal. India set Pakistan a target of 212 runs in 20 overs. In response, Pakistan scored 192 runs and fell 19 runs short of the target.
