The Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin, Germany, took to the social media platform Facebook on Sunday to inform the Pakistani community in the country that due to technical reasons at the passport headquarters in Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan, passport operations at all Pakistan Foreign Missions, including the Embassy of Pakistan, Berlin, will remain suspended until further notice.
The post further added that the resumption of passport services will be announced on the embassy’s social media platforms. The post also expressed deep regret for the inconvenience.
Pakistan’s passport services stopped
Before this, the Pakistani embassy in Abu Dhabi had temporarily stopped passport services because of a technical problem. All passport-related work at the mission is currently on hold.
Officials said the issue is temporary and is being fixed. Because of this, people cannot apply for or collect passports from the embassy right now.
The embassy said the technical fault has affected normal passport operations, but online applications are still available. Pakistani citizens in Abu Dhabi are advised to use the digital system during this time.
No exact date has been given for when services will restart. The embassy said it will share updates once the problem is resolved and asked people to follow official announcements.
Passport services at Pakistani embassies around the world have been temporarily stopped because of a technical problem at the main office in Islamabad. This has caused delays for Pakistanis living abroad.
In a statement on the social media platform Facebook, the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat said that passport services in Oman will stay suspended until further notice.
People have been advised to check the embassy’s official social media pages for more updates.
Why are services being delayed
According to media reports, the problem arises from a technical glitch at the DGI & P headquarters. Reports say that a high-level meeting chaired by Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa also reviewed the system with IT experts on April 30, but the service is still down.
