Pakistan has summoned India’s Chargé d’Affaires over the killing of two Pakistani civilians in the Bedian Sector along the International Border on October 2, 2026.
The Indian diplomat was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, where Pakistan lodged a strong protest over the killing of two Pakistani civilians by personnel of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the BSF used lethal force against the civilians in an unjustified and disproportionate. Pakistan rejected any characterisation of the deceased as “infiltrators”.
The Foreign Office said the incident raised serious concerns over the protection of civilian life and constituted a violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life.
Pakistan called on India to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident and take appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those found responsible.
Islamabad also demanded that India formally communicate the findings of its investigation and the action taken to the Government of Pakistan.
Pakistan further urged India to respect fundamental human rights and international law, follow relevant bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, and exercise maximum restraint in dealing with such incidents.
The Foreign Office called for effective measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Earlier, two Pakistani civilians were martyred, and another was injured after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel allegedly opened fire on three unarmed Pakistani citizens near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur, according to security sources.
The three residents, who belonged to Ladhar village, had moved only a few steps beyond a border pillarwhen BSF personnel allegedly opened fire on them without warning, the security sources said.
The sources said all three men were unarmed and that none of them had attempted to cross the border fence.
The two civilians martyred in the incident were identified as Azmat Rasool, son of Attaullah, and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar, according to the security sources.
The third person sustained injuries in the firing and was shifted for medical treatment.
