The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott also praised the footballs produced at Sialkot, calling them a “symbol of world-class craftsmanship and rich sporting heritage” of Pakistan.

In the documentary “Made in Pakistan: Sialkot to FIFA,” Marriott emphasised the historic contribution of Pakistan’s football industry to the world by providing high-quality sports equipment.

She added that the footballs made in Sialkot now have become synonymous with some of the largest sporting events, such as FIFA World Cup.

Pakistan in general, and Sialkot in particular is recognised in the world as a paragon of excellence in football production, Marriott said.

She pointed out that the Pakistani-made footballs have “historical memories” and it is a fact that Pakistan has been playing a significant role in the world of sports since time immemorial.

Her remarks highlighted the skill, commitment, and expertise that have been nurtured by Pakistani workers and facilitated the success of Sialkot’s football industry, which has become a hallmark of excellence in Pakistan’s sports sector over the decades.

It is a great honour for Pakistan as the official football of the FIFA World Cup 2026 is also manufactured in Sialkot.

The city has always been considered to be one of the main centres of football manufacturing and is increasingly gaining strength in the international market.

The football industry has also been applauded by the international media.

According to Turkish broadcaster TRT, Sialkot is a crucial city in the football industry, with approximately 70 per cent of the world’s footballs being made here.

The report also added that the Pakistan football industry has been linked with the production of FIFA World Cup footballs for over four decades and it is considered that Pakistan is a reliable supplier of high-quality footballs to the world.
