According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain is expected in several parts of Pakistan between July 1 and 6. Rains and thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Azad Kashmir (AJK) on July 2, Thursday.
Which areas will receive rain on Thursday
In Sindh, rainfall is expected on July 3 and 4, while different districts of Balochistan are likely to receive rain until July 4.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued an alert for possible flash floods, glacial lake outburst floods, and landslides in different parts of the country.
According to the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), rising temperatures and expected rainfall could speed up glacier melting in regions like GB, KP, and AJK.
This may also increase the risk of glacial lake outburst floods, flash floods, mudslides, and landslides.
The authority urged people in glacier areas, including Hunza, Nagar, Ghizer, Skardu, Shigar, Ghanche, Kharmang, Astore, Diamer, Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, and Swat, to remain careful. It also warned of rising water levels in the Hispar and Hopper streams.
Pakistan rain today
The NDMA said that from July 1 to July 4, heavy rain could trigger flash floods in mountain streams and seasonal rivers across KP, Punjab, Balochistan, AJK, and GB.
It warned of possible urban flooding in low lying areas of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin.
In Balochistan, local flash floods are also possible in Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, and Loralai.
Before this, on Wednesday, heavy rain and strong winds hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Zhob and KP. According to the details, three people were killed. And 10 others were injured in three separate incidents of house collapses in Zhob. A tree fell on a car near the F-7 Islamabad Cheezious restaurant during the storm.
