Weather turns pleasant after rainfall in several cities

Lahore weather turns pleasant as rain spreads across city

The weather became pleasant and refreshing from the heat with rainfall of different intensities in different cities of the country.

The overnight rainfall that occurred in several parts of the country significantly improved the weather conditions, detail shows. The rainfall was reported in certain localities of Lahore like Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Township, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, PECO Road, Kacha Jail Road, Kot Lakhpat and its nearby localities, followed by a cool breeze, which resulted in a temperature drop.

The city’s temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and the humidity is 53 per cent, the Meteorological Department said. The maximum wind speed recorded is about 6 km per hour.

The highest temperature is likely to be 36 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature is likely to be around 28 degrees Celsius, the department added.

The Meteorological Department said that intermittent downpours are possible in the coming few hours.

Heavy rain, hailstorm turn Islamabad’s weather pleasant

A day earlier, heavy rainfall brought a pleasant change in the weather in Islamabad, offering much-needed relief from warm conditions.

Several areas of Islamabad experienced rain accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms during the daytime on Sunday, improving the overall weather conditions across the city.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rain in multiple regions of the country, warning that wet conditions may continue in the coming hours.

Met Department Predictions

The Meteorological Department predicted a significant change in weather conditions across various parts of the country over the next 12 hours, particularly during the night.

According to the forecast, rain accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and possible hail is expected in several regions. Citizens have been advised to stay updated on weather developments and take necessary precautions, especially during periods of severe weather.

The weather system is likely to bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat in affected areas, while authorities continue to monitor the situation. Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) extended its forecast of below-normal rainfall and higher-than-normal temperatures across most parts of the country from July to September.

The PMD’s forecast indicated a general tendency for “normal to below-normal rainfall across much of the country” during the forecast period, with the lowest negative departures expected in northeastern Punjab and adjoining areas. This was reinforced by its probabilistic rainfall outlook, which forecast the likelihood of below-normal rainfall in most parts of the country, including Punjab, Sindh, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and most parts of Balochistan.

The PMD warned of the increased likelihood of flash floods and landslides, particularly in mountainous and flood-prone regions, due to “near-normal to slightly above-normal precipitation in the northern regions”, as well as urban flooding in plains of major cities in all four provinces.

It added that in GB, upper KP and Kashmir, the above-normal temperatures may accelerate snowmelt, potentially leading to increased river inflows and higher streamflow in downstream catchments as well as Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in these areas.
