Pakistan rejects reports of US request for airspace

The spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Tahir Andrabi,  clearly denied any request from the US for Pakistan’s airspace to attack Iran, the private media outlet reported on Friday.

The spokesperson in its weekly briefing told journalists that Pakistan is not aware of any US demand for using Pakistan’s airspace to attack Iran.

Speaking on the Indus Waters Treaty, he said that Pakistan would not compromise on even a single drop of its water and would utilise all available legal avenues in this regard.

He added that the award issued by the International Court of Arbitration clearly defines the limits of India’s control over the western rivers.

During the briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson stated that there is no provision in the Indus Waters Treaty allowing either party to withdraw from it unilaterally.

He further said that the “run-of-river” mechanism cannot be viewed through the lens of Indian assumptions, adding that Pakistan considers the International Court of Arbitration’s award satisfactory.

PM Shehbaz will visit China

The spokesperson also confirmed that Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from May 23 to 26. PM Shehbaz will meet the Chinese senior leadership during his three-day visit.

Tahir Andrabi also denied the report linked to the deportation of Pakistanis from the UAE. He also said that the story of the deportation of Pakistanis from the UAE is just a conspiracy.
