The Pakistan Test team’s management and selection committee have made significant changes to the squad ahead of the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, dropping two players before they could join the team.
According to media reports, Abdullah Fazal and Ali Usman have been dropped from the squad on the recommendation of Head Coach Mike Hesson.
Tayyab Arif has been included as Abdullah Fazal’s replacement, while Aamir Jamal is likely to replace Ali Usman in Islamabad. Meanwhile, two fast bowlers from the Patron’s XI, Ali Shabbir and Saqib Khan, have also been added to the squad and have joined the team in Islamabad.
The first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to begin on November 9 in Rawalpindi. Fast bowlers Ali Shabbir and Saqib Khan, who were part of the Patron’s XI, have also been called up. Both players have joined the Pakistan squad in Islamabad.
Reports suggest that head coach Mike Hesson requested the changes after assessing the team’s requirements for the upcoming match. According to sources, the players were informed that a grass-covered, or green-top, pitch was being prepared in Rawalpindi, making their services unnecessary for the current squad combination.
