Pakistan will open its campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals India on June 14 at the iconic Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
The much-anticipated encounter is set to be one of the marquee fixtures of the tournament, as the Pakistan women’s team begins its World Cup journey against its traditional rivals in England.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board, will run from June 12 to July 5. For the first time, 12 teams will participate in the tournament.
A total of 33 matches will be played across seven venues, while the final will take place at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on July 5.
After their opening match against India, Pakistan will play their second match against South Africa on June 17, followed by Bangladesh on June 20, Australia on June 23, and the Netherlands on June 27.
Meanwhile, hosts England defeated Sri Lanka by 87 runs in the opening match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Batting first, England scored 219 runs for the loss of one wicket. In reply, the Sri Lankan women’s team was bowled out for 132 runs.
In the match played in Birmingham, England’s openers Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge gave an excellent start, putting together a partnership of 135 runs. Amy Jones was dismissed after scoring 53 runs.
For the second wicket, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt dominated the opposition bowling attack and played shots all around the ground.
In particular, Danni Wyatt-Hodge completed a century off 61 balls with aggressive batting. She remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 62 balls, hitting 13 fours and one six, while Nat Sciver-Brunt scored 46 runs.
