Pakistan says no date set for next US-Iran talks

Pakistan US-Iran talks

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Andrabi, stated that no date has been fixed yet on the second round of talks between the United States and Iran.

The spokesperson indicated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left Madinah for Doha where he will see Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has also visited Tehran yesterday.

He mentioned that Pakistan desires an end of tensions in the Middle East and instant peace and that the Prime Minister contributed in peace talks in Islamabad wholeheartedly.

The process was also active with the involvement of Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar and his team. The spokesperson says the ceasefire was made possible thanks to the effective mediation and powerful facilitation of Pakistan.

The spokesperson also added that last week, American and Iranian delegates held a meeting with the Prime Minister and the military leadership and commended Pakistan on its good hospitality.

The peace efforts of Pakistan are being felt all over the world.

He claimed that recently, the Prime Minister visited Saudi Arabia where the Saudi leadership was told about the work of Pakistan.

He also stated that the Emir of Qatar, the German Chancellor, and the Italian Prime Minister also telephoned Shehbaz Sharif. The role of Pakistan was also acclaimed by the foreign ministers of other countries.

On April 9, the Foreign Office spokesperson condemned the attacks of Israel on Lebanon and believed that the airstrikes are a threat to the peace in the region.

He accused India of being involved in terrorist activities, and further heavily criticised the atrocities that were being committed in Occupied Kashmir, urging the world to pay attention.

The spokesperson added that the extremist agenda of India is negatively affecting the stability of the region and Pakistan will keep on supporting the Kashmiris in their moral, political and diplomatic ways.

He also lamented about actions against minorities in India and that Pakistan will keep speaking around the world to promote peace in the region and human rights.

Potential dates for the talks

Sources have, however, suggested that the second round of talks might take place from April 20-22. The security of Islamabad is already being tightened.

Technical and security teams of US and Iran are also on standby.
