Pakistan sees drop in used vehicle imports in 2025-26

Pakistan used vehicle imports, used vehicles import

Imports of used vehicles into Pakistan have decreased significantly in both volume and value during the fiscal year 2025-26.

As per the official figures, a total of 36,755 used vehicles were imported into the country during the year, with a combined value of $187.81 million.

The figures represent a notable decline from the previous fiscal year. In 2024-25, Pakistan imported 43,675 used vehicles worth $243.85m.

The latest data shows that the number of imported vehicles fell by nearly 16% year on year, while their total value dropped by about 23%.

Used vehicles were brought into Pakistan under three main schemes: personal baggage, gift and transfer of residence.

The decline comes amid continued changes in Pakistan’s automotive and import policies, which can affect the availability and cost of vehicles brought into the country.

Used cars remain an important part of Pakistan’s vehicle market, particularly for buyers seeking alternatives to locally manufactured vehicles.

Saudi investors explore opportunities across Pakistan’s key sectors

A high level Saudi business delegation, headed by Prince Mansour bin Mohammad Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi-Pakistan Joint Business Council, visited the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as both countries look to turn growing economic ties into tangible investment projects.

The visit brought together Saudi business leaders, senior Pakistani officials and private sector representatives for talks aimed at identifying new opportunities across some of the country’s most important industries.

According to an official statement, the discussions focused on sectors including power, petroleum, privatisation, industries, communications and highways. Officials also explored both government to government and business to business investment models, with the goal of moving promising ideas towards implementation.

The SIFC, which serves as a one window platform for investors, coordinated the meetings and facilitated interactions between the Saudi delegation and key stakeholders.

The visit comes at a time when Islamabad is actively courting foreign investment and Saudi Arabia has shown increasing interest in expanding its economic footprint in Pakistan. The statement said the engagements highlighted the strong economic partnership between the two countries and reflected Saudi investors’ growing confidence in Pakistan’s investment potential.

A day earlier, the delegation met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who said Pakistan wanted to take its relationship with Saudi Arabia beyond traditional cooperation and build a strategic economic partnership that benefits both sides.
