Pakistan and Argentina have held initial discussions regarding the possibility of an international football friendly between their national teams, as part of wider cooperation in football development, sources said.

According to details, officials from the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) engaged in early-stage online talks, reviewing potential areas of collaboration including coaching development, technical training programmes, and the possibility of a future friendly match.

Both sides also explored the idea of Argentine coaching staff visiting Pakistan under a structured development initiative, along with broader technical cooperation aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s football infrastructure.

An official statement from Pakistan’s mission in Argentina confirmed that a “productive and forward-looking meeting” was facilitated, bringing together both federations following AFA’s launch of the “AFA Pakistan” initiative and its interest in engaging with Pakistan’s football ecosystem.

The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Hassan Afzal Khan and attended by PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani and his delegation, along with AFA Marketing Director Francisco Lemmi.

Ambassador Khan described the development as an important opportunity to enhance cooperation and support the growth of football in Pakistan. Meanwhile, PFF leadership welcomed AFA’s outreach and stressed the importance of building a structured, long-term partnership.

If finalized, the proposed friendly match could take place after the FIFA World Cup, with both sides continuing discussions on logistical and technical matters before any final confirmation.

Sources clarified that the talks are still at an early stage, and further coordination will be required before any official agreement is reached on a match or development programme.

Pakistan women’s football secures historic win in FIFA 2026

Pakistan women’s football team debuted their Fifa Series journey with a historic 8-0 win against the Turks and Caicos Islands at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan on Thursday.

The first half featured four goals from four distinct scorers, establishing a strong foundation for Adeel Rizki’s team, which later saw two additional players contribute to the scoreline, allowing Pakistan to eclipse their previous record victory of 7-0 against the Maldives in September 2022.

Following a long-range attempt by Nadia Khan that tested Turks and Caicos goalkeeper Archenie Desir, Pakistan took the lead in the 10th minute with Zahmena Malik scoring.

Pakistan maintained their offensive pressure, with Layla Banaras demonstrating her skill by extending the lead to 3-0 with a skillful run and precise finish just after the half-hour mark.

In a match where Pakistan dominated in the opponent’s half for nearly the entire duration, Mariam found the net in the 38th minute, expertly volleying a cross at the back post.
