Web desk: Cold and dry weather is expected across most parts of the country, while light fog and smog may affect visibility in several areas, according to the latest forecast.
The Meteorological Department says that during the next 24 hours, most regions will remain under cold and dry conditions, with temperatures dropping further in the northern areas.
In Islamabad and its surrounding areas, the weather is likely to stay dry during the day and colder at night. Cold winds are also expected to continue in the outskirts of the capital.
In Punjab, most plain districts will experience dry weather. However, residents have been advised to take caution during morning and night travel due to smog and light fog.
Reduced visibility is expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, and Multan because of air pollution.
In Murree, Galiyat, and the upper parts of Punjab, the cold weather will persist. Temperatures in the hilly areas are expected to remain below normal. Tourists have been advised to wear warm clothing and follow necessary precautions.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most districts will remain dry, while upper areas such as Swat, Dir, Chitral, and Kohistan are likely to see colder nights.
Sindh will remain mostly dry as well, with light cool winds expected in Karachi and other coastal regions.
In Balochistan, severe cold is expected in Quetta, Ziarat, and Kalat, while the sparsely populated southern parts of the province will remain dry.
During the past 24 hours, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Skardu at minus 6 degrees Celsius.
Gupis and Gilgit recorded minus 3 degrees, while Peshawar reported a minimum of 6 degrees, and Quetta recorded 0 degrees.

The weather in Naran, Kaghan Valley, is -3°C (27°F) with clear skies as of now. Winter conditions have set in, and temperatures are dropping well below freezing at night.
