Pakistan, Zimbabwe discuss new dates for upcoming series

Pakistan Zimbabwe series

Talks are ongoing between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Zimbabwe Cricket Board for rescheduling of their upcoming series.

According to sources, the series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe might not be conducted on the initially planned time.

Under the Future Tours Programme (FTP), Zimbabwe was to tour Pakistan in April and May, for a white ball series.

However, the scheduling conflicts have caused complications for both boards. As a result, officials on both sides are in discussions, currently trying to see what more suitable window in the latter part of the year.

One of the reasons for the potential change is the busy cricket calendar that Pakistan has for that period.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled to be played in April, thereby occupying a huge portion of the time period.

Following the end of the PSL, Australia is due for a One-Day International series in Pakistan later in May.

With multiple engagements at work over a short timeframe it has become difficult to accommodate Zimbabwe’s tour with both cricket boards pondering over alternate dates.

Currently, the Pakistan national team is on a tour to Bangladesh playing a three-match series. In the first match, Bangladesh won by eight wickets, a convincing win over Pakistan.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh decided to take first field and invited Pakistan to bat. The strategic choice paid off very well as Pakistan’s batting order found it difficult to gain momentum and was eventually bowled out for the meagre score of 114 runs.

Chasing an easy target of 115, Bangladesh got there comfortably in 15.1 overs for just two wickets.

Tanzeed Hasan played a match winning knock and remained unbeaten on 67 runs and led his team to victory. Najmul Hossain Shanto also made a steady contribution with 27 runs.

With this victory, Bangladesh have taken a 1-0 lead for the series with a very good start in the series displaying their flying bowling and an even tempered batting performance.
