The Pakistan High Commission in Singapore hosted a vibrant ‘Mango Festival’ to showcase Pakistan’s world-renowned mangoes as part of events marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore.
Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, attended the festival as the Guest of Honour. The event brought together senior government officials, members of the business community, diplomats, media representatives and members of the Pakistani-Singaporean community to celebrate Pakistan’s rich agricultural heritage and strengthen cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Guests were treated to a curated menu featuring some of Pakistan’s premium mango varieties, including the renowned “Chaunsa” and Sensation. The festival provided attendees with an opportunity to experience the distinctive taste, aroma and quality of Pakistani mangoes while highlighting the country’s agricultural diversity and its potential for expanding agricultural and trade links with Singapore.
The Mango Festival was part of a series of activities being organised to commemorate six decades of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore. Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Rabia Shafiq, said Pakistani mangoes are renowned for their exceptional taste and quality.
She said the Pakistan High Commission regularly organises cultural and promotional events to introduce Singaporeans to Pakistan’s diverse culture, hospitality and heritage, while fostering stronger people-to-people connections. She noted that the Mango Festival held special significance as Pakistan and Singapore are celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations.
Rabia Shafiq said the festival sought to bring together Pakistan’s culture, commerce and cuisine, providing guests with an opportunity to experience the country’s rich traditions and agricultural excellence.
A short video, Salam Pakistan, was also screened during the event, offering guests a glimpse of Pakistan’s breathtaking landscapes, popular tourist destinations and rich cultural heritage. The programme also included a cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate the longstanding friendship between the two countries. Guests expressed appreciation for the quality of Pakistani mangoes, particularly their distinctive aroma, smooth texture and naturally sweet taste.
The festival also provided a platform to promote Pakistan’s agricultural exports and introduce its premium mango varieties to the Singaporean market. The event highlighted opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and Singapore.
