The number of registered voters in Pakistan has declined by a net 589,458 following an update of the electoral rolls based on data received from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the private media outlet reported on Wednesday.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) updated the electoral rolls between May 7 and July 2, 2026. During this period, 1,484,382 voters were removed from the lists after their deaths were recorded in NADRA’s database, while 894,924 newly eligible voters were added.
As a result, the total number of registered voters fell from approximately 137.1 million to 136,574,399. The number of male voters decreased by around 450,000, while the number of female voters declined by approximately 138,000.
Provincial data showed that Punjab recorded the largest decrease, with 478,909 voters removed from the electoral rolls. Sindh also saw a decline of 97,216 registered voters.
According to ECP sources, electoral rolls are continuously updated under Section 25 of the Election Act using data received from NADRA. Since every voter’s registration is linked to their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), the system prevents duplicate voter registrations.
The sources said that the regular revision of electoral rolls aims to maintain an accurate and transparent record of eligible voters and further strengthen the credibility of the electoral process.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had reassured that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections will commence as per schedule.
ECP confirmed that the AJK elections will be on July 27, on the same date as mentioned before.
In a statement issued on Sunday, an ECP spokesperson said the polling schedule announced on June 5 was in accordance with constitutional requirements and the constitutional tenure of the AJK Legislative Assembly.
