Pashto singer Shahsawar has apologised to the Pashtun community and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police after his arrest over allegations of using abusive and inappropriate language on social media.
In a video message recorded in the presence of police, the singer expressed regret over his behaviour and pledged not to use abusive language in the future.
“I regret my actions. I will not use abusive language again. This is my promise and commitment,” Shahsawar said.
He also apologised to the Pashtun community and the provincial police, urging Pakistani TikTokers to avoid abusive language on social media and behave responsibly.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, officers from Peshawar’s Gulbahar Police Station arrested the singer following complaints from citizens and social media users.
A police spokesperson said Shahsawar was accused of repeatedly using abusive words and inappropriate language across various social media platforms.
Police officials stressed that violations of the law would not be tolerated, regardless of whether the individuals involved were ordinary citizens or well-known personalities. They added that legal action would continue against those found violating the law.
The police also urged influential individuals and entertainment personalities to use social media responsibly and maintain respectful standards of communication.
Shahsawar has previously made headlines. In 2017, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police also arrested him over an alleged rape case involving a girl.
His latest arrest and subsequent apology have renewed discussion about responsible social media use and the importance of maintaining civility while exercising freedom of expression.
