The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken serious notice of a proposed unsanctioned T20 cricket tournament in Rawalpindi and has directed players, coaches, officials and all other cricket-related individuals across the country to stay away from the event.
The board has warned that participation in the tournament or any association with it without prior PCB approval and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) will be considered a violation of its rules and regulations, and disciplinary action may be taken against those involved.
According to media reports, PCB received information regarding the organisation of an unsanctioned T20 tournament in Rawalpindi and a players’ draft scheduled to take place in the coming days. The PCB immediately took notice of the matter.
The board clarified that the organisers of the event had not obtained an NOC from the PCB, even though prior approval from the board is mandatory for all privately organised cricket tournaments.
The PCB has instructed centrally contracted and domestic players, registered cricket clubs, departmental teams, coaching staff, and officials associated with district and regional cricket associations not to participate in the tournament, officiate matches, assist in administrative matters, engage in promotional activities, or provide any other services related to the event.
The PCB further stated that any involvement in the tournament will be treated as a violation of its regulations, and appropriate disciplinary action may be taken against players and officials found to be participating.
The board has also advised commercial and broadcasting organisations linked to the event to reconsider their association with it.
