PDMA issues rain alert in Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a new weather alert for dust storms, thunderstorms, and rain in several districts of Punjab from Sunday evening.

According to a PDMA spokesperson, many parts of the province are likely to receive rain from May 10 to May 12.

The authority said rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Gujranwala. Showers are also likely in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin.

The forecast also includes rain in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Dera Ghazi Khan along with nearby areas.

Officials said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to stay on high alert and respond quickly to any emergency.

The PDMA advised people to stay careful during bad weather and avoid unnecessary travel during storms and heavy rain.
